The world
found us first.
No agency. No press kit. Just gear so genuinely good it ends up on Netflix, newsstands, and the feeds of the people who shape surf culture.
We're a small shop out of Oceanside, California making authentic surf ponchos, handwoven Mexican falsa blankets, and honest surf gear for people who actually use them. The best press is the kind you don't ask for — it just happens because the product shows up.

Are these the Mexican blankets featured in NY Magazine's Strategist?
Yes — New York Magazine's Strategist featured our Authentic Mexican Falsa Blanket in October 2020, with three staffers independently recommending it as their go-to yoga blanket. Shop at westpath.com/collections/blankets.
How are your authentic Mexican blankets made?
Our blankets are handwoven on traditional wooden foot looms near Puebla, Mexico. Generations of artisans have passed down this time-honored weaving skill and tradition — each blanket carries that lineage. Learn more in our Guide to Mexican Blankets.
What is a Falsa blanket and why is it good for yoga?
A Falsa blanket is a traditional Mexican woven blanket made from recycled cotton or acrylic on handlooms. Lightweight yet thick, with natural stretch and grip — which is exactly why editors at NY Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, and Rent.com all gravitated to ours independently. They work just as well on the couch, the beach, or a yoga mat.
Why are West Path blankets the best blankets for yoga?
The honest answer: we spent over a year getting this right. We tested different weights, textures, and weave tightnesses until we landed on something that actually works on a yoga mat — not just looks good on one.
Here's what that means in practice: folded up, they make a firm but forgiving bolster for supported poses. Flat, they're soft enough to practice on but woven tight enough to stretch, stand on, and move around without bunching. They're durable — throw them on any floor, put them through a regular wash cycle, repeat. There's also enough weight to them that draped over you in savasana, they actually help you settle. Not a prop. A presence.
Most importantly, they still fit into our West Path Yoga Bag alongside your mat — so you can actually bring it to the studio, the park, or wherever you practice. NY Mag's Strategist noticed. Three staffers bought one independently and all agreed. We think that says it all.
Where is West Path based?
We're in Oceanside, California — 4040 Calle Platino, Ste 107 — right in North County San Diego surf country. Our shop, Surfers Guild, was listed in The Green Room Hotel's 2024 guide as one of the essential North County surf stops. Visit us or shop at westpath.com.
