About Cooperative Ikhf N'Ighir
Cooperative Ixf N'Ighir was created by a group of women of the village of Ixf N'Ighir in order to sell their products in an organized fashion. Kaltoum Hakout, one of the women of the cooperative, approached a group women of the village as everyone sat washing family clothes, and she encouraged them to come together to create a cooperative of their own. Each woman that she approached spread the word, and now about 20 women are part of the cooperative of Ixf N'Iger, a village carved into the edges of the valley of Ait Bouguemez, a common village for tourists to visit. All the women of the cooperative are weavers, specializing in Beni Ourain rugs, which are famous for their geometric patterns.
